South of San Francisco,
Silicon Valley is here!
The headquarters of multi-nationals as known as Google, Facebook or Apple are installed in this region. This industrial pole installed in the south of San Francisco is the heart of the High Tech industry. For all "geeks", it's the pilgrimage to do when you go to California!
It is also here that you can discover the famous Stanford University (Palo Alto). The Computer Museum or NASA's Ames Research Center (Mountain View), or the Tech Museum of Innovation (San Jose) are located south of San Francisco.
San José, is the most populated city of the Bay with over a million inhabitants. His interest lies primarily in its proximity to Apple Center, or a few distractions as the Garden of Historic Roses, Almaden Quicksilver County Park, or the Saint Joseph Cathedral!
Go visit Santa Cruz if you are adept at sport and especially Surf! But there is also one of the oldest amusement park in America (1907). It is on the waterfront, like Santa Monica (in Los Angeles). There are activities for all tastes, for both adults and children.
In Monterey, literature buffs will love to stroll in the middle of Steinbeck's former sardine canning center, and here is one of the most remarkable aquariums in the world! Please note, the Cathedral "San Carlos" for lovers of history (and spirituality).
Carmel-by-the-sea is a small seaside town full of charm. She has hosted many writers and poets (Robinson Jeffers, Mary Hunter Austin, London Jack, George Sterling ...). Even today, it is a resort of many actors. Clint Eastwood is even the mayor!
For the historical side, the Mission is - imperatively - to visit!
